Cursa St. Antoni

So today was the day... I went to Barcelona last night to sleep at my brother's since the temperatures were dropping a lot and I was afraid I'd find lots of ice on the road in the am. By 7pm last night we were at 0ÂșC already :o

So off I went, had a toast with ham for dinner and off to bed after a little chat with Dani. Slept well but woke up without feeling like running :( Anyway, got ready and headed down. As we were arriving, seeing everyone warming up was great already. Me some people I knew and the race started :D

So happy to see "my" Xavi on K2 and then further along on the 5th more or less and then on the 8th... he gave me wings and took photos too, that I hope to have later on!

So, off I went with the gun, the air was crispy for sure but I had to take my windbreaker off as I was getting too hot :p The kms started going by... felt better after the first 2.. My Garmin marked 10.3k in 1:10:07 which is 6:49 per km... great for me in all ways. Official results say 1:09:33, if it's the same distance... even better :p, if not, if it's exactly 10K then it's a tad slower but .3 of a k is a lot to be "off", so I've gone faster that I thought... I'm too happy! Loving it. Yes, yes, I know it's slow, but still, it's great!

The best thing??? I ran... pain FREE!!! Woohoo! And I managed to run the full thing. My last "long" run was on Jan 9th and then I've "only" done 4-5ks so, couldn't be happier... will be good and try to do things better so I can improve my times... I want to get closer to 1hour for the 10K!

Also, tomorrow I'm starting my protein diet... can't wait... I hope I can keep up with it and lose some weight. That alone should make me go faster, LOL! I need to lose the equivalent to 4 gallon bottles of milk approximately. There's no hurry. I guess the first few kgs will come off (I just guess) easier than the rest but hey... they didn't pile up overnight either, LOL!

Ok... here I go, to be a better, happier me!!!

Signs...

Well, it's been a while, than again, that's me, right?

On Monday, Jan 7th I had my stitches out and on Tuesday, Pol hit me (by accident) with his cast on the wound and it opened. I went to the doc and she said it opened because it was infected. I had to take antibiotic and go cure the cut at the nurse every other day. I went again yesterday and don't have to go until next Tuesday (unless anything happens) but I have to cure the cut daily at home... no problem! It does look better but it's a major cut, looks ugly...

Ok, so I've been getting signs about the half, like not being able to sell the bib after 2 tries, getting e-mails, Paula's competition, that seems to be falling on the Saturday (5th) not the Sunday... and I just had another one... and it was negative slpits on my run tonight... don't know how I did it or how it happened, but I did... amazing... a bit faster every km :D

I went out running on Monday, hadn't run since Sitges because of the accident on the cut. If I didn't go out, I'd burst or bite someone so out I went. I wanted to run slowly but run. And so I did... it was great! I did a total of 7kms including warmup and cooldown. I did another 7 today and when I checked my Garmin I saw the negative splits... really cool! I do have to say it was a comfy run as in no pain (or hardly any) but feeling my lower legs a lot now, almost 2 hours after my run... have felt them since about 30 minutes after the run... hoping it's nothing (fingers crossed).

I have a 10K on Sunday. That will be a good trial. The idea is to stop by the waterfron in Barcelona on the way home from the race (it's in Barcelona) and do a few more kms and maybe a few more when I get home... we'll see... will depend on how my legs feel but would like to try. If I am to run the half I should do a high mileage day even if it's cut up into pieces!

About the diet... I went to the chemist... no Kot products here in Girona, but was informed about Siken, so I'm going for it. Bought some stuff already. Will start on Monday (as I have the race on Sunday and a dinner on Friday!) and do phase 0 for 5 days (through Friday), then phase 1 for 6 weeks (that's the intention), phase 2 for another 6 weeks (might do either longer, we'll see) and then go onto phase 3 and last and be on it for 4 weeks aprox. It will take a lot of C.O.N.T.R.O.L. I am eating a lot, lot, lot these days and I'll go from a lot to very little... I think that if I make it through the first day, that'll be it. If I can get to the half having lost even only 1kg it'll be a huge success!!!!

Off to bed... it's almost midnight... I'm knackered.

Oh, BTW, Paula's been moved to an upper group until her first competition at least. First day yesterday, she did great. Coach says she improved so much already in one day. Finally someone listening to me... she wasn't progressing as there are 9 new girls in her group and they're going at their pace. She's loving the new group :D

Can I do it? Yes I can!

Sitges

Yes... I went to Sitges today. I run on Friday on the bike path and had a great time. It was a long run too! Today was the Half Marathon in Sitges and I went to run the last 8k with Maria, a friend. I've always heard this was a flat half but I can tell you it wasn't, still I did them at 7m/k which is great for me! I did 8 more ks as warmup and cooldown... it was awesome! 16 kms in a day... how cool is that?

I signed up for a half on Feb. 6th. I decided not to as I didn't think I'd be ready. I've tried to sell my bib twice and everytime I've failed... it's like a sign. If Paula's not competing Sunday am (she competes that weekend, first competition of the season!) I am going and we'll see what happens. I know I can do it. I want to do it so... there I go!

Will try the Kot Diet and see what happens... that should help my speed just by losing weight. Hope I make it!

Lots of stuff

So, it is January 7th and... the 3 Kings came yesterday! The kids had such a blast... it was a very intense day... presents at home, presents at uncle Kiku, lunch with Toni's family, presents at Toni's parents... got home by 8pm and still had lots to do, sigh... kids are back at school today, except Pol who starts on Monday, like me!

I went for my first run of 2011 on Tuesday and it was great, slow but wonderful. And I went out again today for a bit of a trail run of 6.7k... loved it... nothing like running when you're stressed... really pumps you up, LOL!

So I think I've started the year ok. Had aches and pains on Tuesday but felt good today. Hoping for another run tomorrow at some point and if not, I'm supposed to be doing a 10k on Sunday so that's good enough! Back to work on Monday so I don't know when I'll be able to train during the week... we'll see as I don't want to slack back but move forward!

Bring 2011 on, woohoo!!!!

745kms

That's how many kms I run in total in 2010... not bad for me. Would have been a lot more if I hadn't lost motivation in April. I think I could have doubled that amount. So, here is to 2011... get to at least 745 and if possible pass it big time!

Go Jacky Go!

A new injury

Went out for a run, or at least tried to. I am injured :( It's a new kind of pain. I'm somewhat upset to say the least. Don't know what it is. Going to rest it and see how it is tomorrow.

What a start of 2011... but... it can only get better! :D

Happy 2011!!!

There are good days and better days... so let's go for them! It is 1/1/11... sounds perfect!

I went for my run last night and I'm about to go for one now at almost 9pm... I think I much need it. I finally took Pol to the ER again about his arm and he's got 2 broken bones. He's had them broken for 12 days and he's been happy and jolly. He'd complain if we touched his arm and he wouldn't use it much and overall, not lean on it. I couldn't believe it... 2 fractures... OMG... my brave little man. Also on such a stupid fall... he fell on me... amazing! Anyway he's on the mend now with his plaster.

Guess 2011 could have started worse. On the bright side we finally now why he'd complain every now and then about his arm :D

Happy 2011... let it be great!
