Hi there!
It's been a few days and lots have been going on.
First of, I'm so so so pleased with my new job and my coworkers. I feel so blessed. The head teacher is just an amazing human being and has congratulated me and encouraged me to keep going. We had our Christmas meal on the 16th and it was lots of fun. We shared a ride with 4 other teachers... we would have never left the car... we had such a great time, LOL!
On Sunday Dec. 18th I run a few laps of the marathon for the marathon (a TV program to raise money for different causes every year. It was transplants this year)
The kids did their Christmas Show at school and it went great. Then Paula and Jan did their gym show and it was very nice.
We went over to mom's on Christmas Eve and did the Tió. The kids were so happy with their little tokens... it was magical. Paula and Jan slept over at Lisa's and Pol came home with us. We spent Christmas day at mom's again and the kids had a great time again! We went for a lovely walk... we've had beautiful weather, no coats/jackets needed, the sun's been shining.... perfect!
On Monday Dec. 26th I run the Sant Silvestre Riudellotenca. A 7k. One could tell I hadn't been properly training. Finished 3 seconds slower than last year but happy with it!
I managed to go out training on Tuesday Dec. 27th and Thursday Dec. 29th when I went to Barcelona to by my trisuit and met with Eva to run around Montjuic... what a beautiful place and what great company! She's such a blessing!
Today is the last day of 2011 and I've run 2 5K races. One in Lloret in the morning, a 5K with 3 more ks of warmup and cooldown and one in Girona in the afternoon, another 5k with 2 more of warmup and cooldown. Did all my stretching and that left me feeling great! I did 35:38 in the am and 34:50 int he afternoon... Quite happy as I was extremely tired and sleepy by the afternoon! Eva and the kids came to Lloret in the am... it was great! Another lovely day with fantastic weather... we're so spoiled!!!! The kids, all 3, ran in the morning too, doing fantastic jobs! Paula was the 5th female runner in her group! I'm so proud! Jan did such a great run and was so eager... and Pol... what can I say... he knew he was in a race... that boy is so sweet... what champs! Paula run in the afternoon too and she placed 2nd! I am so blessed. I have a beautiful family!
So, it is HELLO 2012 in 44 minutes from now... what a year 2011's been... full of ups and downs but ending in a great way. I'm sure 2012 will be another great year. I'll make the most of it at least :D My word for 2012 is TRY!
HAPPY 2012: Health, joy, peace, kms, happiness, love and friendship!!!!!!!!

Challenges
I read on a blog I follow about small challenges, small in duration... instead of a year round or whatever, just a 30 day challenge or as tiny as one wants it to be. I think this is the key.
Only 21 days til the end of the year. The perfect time for a change. It also finds me injured (torn fiber on the achylles) and with strep throat. Could be a sign. Why not give it a try... not long to go until 2012, it's all up to me, obviously. Can I do it?
I've had a few great days off and got to meet with Eva a lot. It was so nice. So much in common and so much to share. Our kids get along great too... couldn't have it much better!
Ok... must get down to business. Maybe a new daily blog to keep myself accountable? It can be done anyway so... here I come. I want to feel lively and willing to do things and not a slob like now so... time to move on and stop looking back!
I'll try my best until the end of the year... it ain't that long. I'm sure I can do it!

Port Aventura, Sant Andreu, Christmas Shopping & wrapping, Cros de Malgrat...
What a hectic but wonderful few days it's been!
On Monday we went to Port Aventura with my dear friend Eva dn her children. We had such a lovely time. It was great! Hardly anyone about, perfect weather, great company... can't get much better than that!!!!
On the way back we slept over in Barcelona, at a hotel as on Tuesday, Paula and I (and Eva and her wonderful children) were running at Sant Andreu. We ran, went back to our hotel, we all took showers and then went for lunch together and then to a Christmas fair in Barcelona. It was great. Kids were very tired (mine) but it was great.
Back home Tuesday evening. Toni went to work on Wednesday and the kids went to school while I managed to finish all of my Christmas shopping and even wrapping up! I took the kids to school and I picked them up. They were soooooooooooo excited :D
Today, Thursday we went to a Cross Country race in Malgrat. I injured myself in Barcelona on Tuesday (torn/ruptured fibers on my achylles) so I wasn't able to run. We met with Eva and the kids again... it's been so great to be with them! All her kids and mine ran and she did too! All 4 of them got medals... they're such champs! Paula, Jan and Pol did great and had so much fun! They can't wait for their next race on Sunday!
Back home for lunch. I work tomorrow but Toni and the kids get to stay home. A busy weekend ahead... I love it!

Hope Endures 5K
Reading the blogs I'm subscribed to, I came across the Hope Endures 5K which I've posted about. I thought it'd be such a nice thing to do. I've not been there although I almost was but mine due to long labor and well... in the end all went well but it was close. Still these are those kind of things that just move me... I can't stay still, so I decided that, despite not having done anything in like 7 weeks, I'd run this 5K and so I did! I'm happy and proud to report that Ashlyn pushed me all the way so I didn't have to walk a bit (didn't have the need for it) and finished in less time than I estimated (I thought I'd run it in 40 minutes) finishing in 34:20. Pretty proud of it and happy to have run for and with Ashlyn!
Ashlyn, you've got a heck of a mom. You'll always be with us!

Hope Endures 5K
Always nice to run. Even nicer for a good cause!
Hope Endures 5k
After losing our daughter in 2008 to stillbirth, I decided it was time to change my life. The journey has brought me to a love for running, an adventure in health and fitness and a clean eating food lover.
On December 2, 2008 Ashlyn passed away and December 6th we had a memorial for her. For everyone else that was the end, but for our family, we live with it every single day and we grow. So in honor of Ashlyn, this year I want to celebrate her with a virtual 5k! Its not about winning or prizes, its for anyone who has to endure life after something they think they cant. Its about just enduring life each day when we are down. Its a celebration of change and a celebration of never-ending love.

Triatló Sprint de Vilanova i la Geltrú
This is way due... don't even remember the details :(
Yes... I did it! I am a sprint distance triathlon FINISHER! And I did that in 1:53 and a few seconds... not good but not bad either!
It was a lovely day, perfect weather, perfect place, lovely company... I set out at my own pace, as usual and surprised myself after swimming without any walls to hold on or anything and feeling it "wasn't that hard at all", LOL! Bike ride was tough and run was a 5K PR for me... amazing, and more so after the swim and the bike ride :D
Lots have gone on since... not sports wise as I have hardly done anything but definitely work wise. Started a new job on October 20th and so far I'm loving it! I work with really nice people with a wonderful sense of humor and I just feel useful and handy :D
Kids are doing good. Pol's 3 already. They're sweet and cute. I love them! We spent Friday night in Barcelona as Paula was invited to a sleep over birthday party and the boys and I stayed at a hotel, it was a nice experience! Then the other part of the party, Ikea, home to a quiet evening. This am Paula run her first ever cross country race and did great and what's more important... she loved it! In the afternoon I took Paula and Jan to the movies... we came home and just had fun while it rained out there!
Election day today... not good...
Trying to get myself together and resume my running. I miss it! So far, I am dropping out from my 10K next Sunday in Barcelona. I haven't trained and don't want to be suffering out there. I'll do cross country instead (just a little over 4kms). I do need to get studying too... eek... work's piling up!
Proud and happy to be sorrounded by great people though!

My day Monday
Well... a busy weeks lies ahead for sure... This was my Monday:
Overslept a little, up at 8:15, rush, rush, rush to get kids ready. About to leave for school and Paula asks about snack... shoot... I'd totaly forgotten about it. I got it ready in a jiffy and headed to school. We obviously got there late :(
Off for coffee (ATM first) with Mònica and Jana before a work interview at 10.
Interview at 10. Out at 10:40. Came home for an hour before another interview/meeting at 12. Out at 12:40. Home to grab a bite to start classes at 1:30pm. Out of school at 3:30pm, on to the mall to get my new lenses, back home, get snack ready for the kids, back to school to pick them up. Paula goes to a friend's house. Bathing kids, dinners, pick Paula up... what a day...
But here's Tuesday (I know the title only says Monday buy hey...) Wake up early and wake kids. Off for blood work at 8:30 (hubby takes care of the kids, yay!) Back home at around 9:15. Breakfast, decluttering and tidying up a bit. 10:30 I leave for St. Gregori to go for a run. Back home at noon, quick shower, quick bite and off to school to start classes at 12:30. Out of school after 2 very hectic groups at 3:30. On to the grocery store. Shopping. Home at 4. Lunch! Put shopping away, get snacks ready and off to pick kids up. Take Paula and Jan to gymnastics, do Paula's hair. Come back home. Drop Pol off (in the bath) and off to give a class until 7:30pm. Back home, pick up and off to school for parent's meeting at 8. Back at 9:30pm. Kiss kids goodnight. Dinner and long talk with hubby... In bed at 1 am... eek!
It is Wednesday am... so far, I've seen kids off (daddy takes them to school!). Working on 2nd load of laundry. Had breakfast. Will now go swimming. Class at school 1:30-3:30 and at another school 4:30-5:30, back home, baths, dinners, and parent's meeting (last one, thank goodness!) at 8. Early bedtime is in the agenda!
Tomorrow Thursday, 3 classes 12:30-3:30, pick kids up at 5, take them to gym, mommy group until 7:30 or so, back home, dinners and baths, pick Paula up at 8:30... and... at 3:20 am (yes! That's Friday already) I have an MRI scheduled on my knee. Another busy (and tired day on Friday) with a 6-7:30pm class in the afternoon. Hoping to rest on Saturday as I will be doing (hopefully) my very first sprint tri on Sunday.
So, how's your week???

Touched by an angel
Life is certainly full of ups and downs. It is often said not to give up as what you're looking for could just be around the corner, or just closer than you think so you've got to keep trying. And I so agree. When you least expect it, good things happen. And that's happened to me. I've been touched by an angel and boy, does she bring a smile to my face everyday! Thank you Eva!!!!!
More London!
These are the official photos from the race. Love the fact that I finished, that I PR'd (although the time is far from being decent) and that I'm willing to do it again next year and the following and so on :p
My sort of breakdown as to call it appears to be an insuline peak and I'm still extremely tired and not 100% but I'm doing ok. I managed 500m swimming yesterday and I felt really good!
Hoping to resume some running and biking as I will be doing my very first SPRINT tri on Sunday, Oct. 9th. I better get going!
I am starting to teach a class this afternoon with 8 first graders, wish me luck, eek! And then as of Monday, the regular classes at midday, Mon-Thurs. 16 hours a week altogther, plus one or two more could be added. Plus my 12 classes at university... eek! Plus being a mom and of course... TRAINING!!!! I really need to make a nice schedule to fit it all in!

Nike Run to the Beat London Half Marathon!
Well... lots have gone on since my last post on September 4th. I run the Marxa de la Diada here in Girona on Sept. 11th, well... I mostly walked it :p I then had horrible soreness and thought I had injured myself really badly but my great doctor solved it :D So the following Sunday, Sept. 18th I run the Cursa de la Mercè in Barcelona a 10K in 1:09 something. Quite ok.
On Saturday, last Saturday, Sept. 24th, my brother and I flew to London. We were running the Nike Run to the Beat London Half Marathon. The flight was 40 minutes delayed but it was ok. Got there, trains weren't working, argh! So we got a bus into London, took the underground to the race area (the O2) and picked our race packages with the race shirt, with bib number printed on it, a tag for the bag dropoff and a cheer me on sticker, plus the timing chip, of course! We could now see it coming... it was going to be huge!
We then took the underground again and headed for the hotel. Checked in, went down to but some water and to our surprise, the London Eye was peeking behind a building... it was within a 5 minute walk from the hotel! And of course, across the London Eye, Big Ben and the Houses of the Parliament!!! We took photos, walked along and went back to the hotel to meet Lisa and Grant! It was great! Hadn't seen Lisa in 18 years so it was very very exciting! We took the underground again, went to Covent Garden and had some dinner. On the way back to the underground, I saw the London Eye peeking again. We were just on the other side of the river, so we walked back to the hotel. The temperature was great, lots of people about, a little food market on the banks of the river... awesome!
Woke up Sunday am, showered and got ready! Had breakfast at Costa's, which was delicious and headed over to the O2... lots of purple in the underground... how exciting! At the O2 they just opened all doors due to the amount of people! Out of the underground and onto the bag dropoff. Great organization, lovely volunteers :D Porta-potty visit and into our pens. Dani was in the 1:40-2:00 hr and I was in the following 2:00-2:30. He had his number in Spearmint. Mine was yellow!
Off we went... I crossed the start line with the clock at 10:12 already! Everything was going great. Passed the 3 mile mark at 32 minutes which is really fast for me. Kept going, all was good. I had about only 2 miles to go when I had to slow down. I started feeling bad: indigestion? Have no idea. Saw a girl on the ground who had fainted or something and right there and then I started feeling dizzy, so I played it safe and walked the rest of the way to a wonderful 2:36:27 finish, a PR by 7 minutes :D
Got my medal, hugged my brother who finished in a whooping 1:49:05, congrats bro! and headed to pick our bags up. We got changed, stretched and off to the airport to come back home.
A lovely experience, a great weekend that I hope to repeat in the future!
I would like to thank my angel Eva for all her help and support. I don't think I could have done it without her. Love you Eva!
Next on the list? My very first SPRINT triathlon in Vilanova on Oct. 9th... hoping to finish alive ;)

A 10K and a tri!
Ok, so it's September already and haven't updated in a while...
On Sunday August 28th I run the Cursa de la Festa Major de Ripollet. A 10K. It's a challenging course with quite a few hills. I didn't know if I could run it as I had pain on my knee but managed to run it without any problems. I was slow but did it. I finished in 1:12:14, slower than last year but anyway, done!
And today... today I did the II Triatló de la Dona de Barcelona and loved it... I took it easy. I hadn't trained properly so I was going to finish. And I sure did and, surprisingly enough, over 4 minutes faster than last year! Yay! I felt great during the swim and the bike and then stiff during the run where I didn't get to pass anyone but lots passed me... oh well... I finished and felt like wanting more, so I think it's all good! Eva was there too and Cristina made her debut. They did great! I also saw Cristina who did Salitja with me and finished with a huge smile... so happy for her!
Went to Banyoles yesterday as Eva was doing the Olympic triathlon. It was great to see her excel. What a great job she did! Yay Eva! We chatted for a while after and so did our husbands who felt had known each other forever :D The kids were really good!
So, what's next? Marxa de la Diada next Sunday... 12ks... lots of training to be done this week!

Almost a month... eek!
Well... hello world! It's been a while... being on holiday and being all 5 at home it is sometimes hard to find the time to update the blog, or maybe I'm just unorganized :o
Have trained some and had lots of fun since my triathlon in Banyoles. First thing... 10K in Malgrat... finished in 1:10:15... bad but better than I thought. Then, another little triathlon in Salitja on August 13th. Only 2 ladies and I got the cup... still can't believe it... it was very nice but extremely hot... I suffered :( but can't wait to go again next year :D I met Eva and her lovely children in Banyoles... it was great... one of the best things, well, I'd say the best, that has happened lately :D And then... Eva came to Banyoles an stayed a few days and we got all caught it... it was fantastic, awesome... I just loved it! One day we went and swam in the lake with the kids... a really nice time indeed!
And now... my pace is getting slower and slower but I will do my best to improve and with my new "coach" Eva, I'm sure I'll succeed :D I am running a 10K next Sunday in Ripollet, then the II Triatló de la Dona de Barcelona on Sept. 4th, a super sprint tri, then the Marxa de la Diada in Girona, a 12K on Sept. 11th, then La Mercè in Barcelona, a 10K on Sept. 18th and then... drumroll please... the Nike Run To the Beat Half Marathon in... LONDON!!!!!!!!!!! Might do the Garmin triathlon in Barcelona on Oct. 16th... we'll see ;)
Great news: Susan's coming to England around our birthdays (Thanksgiving!) and I might try to go see her, yay! And then... and this is even better... she'll most likely be coming to run the Barcelona Marathon... OMG!!! How great is that??? It's fantastic, amazing, super!!!!!! Gosh... it's going to be super special!
How much excitement :D It looks like it's going to be a great year... bring it on!!!

I Triatló Popular de Banyoles
Yay! I did it... I am a triathlete again!
What a wonderful day! Installed the bike rack/carrier on my car last night, had to do some McGyver stuff but got it done! Lots done in the am and at 12:30 sharp I left for Banyoles. Paula came with me as a friend's girlfriend offered to mind her :D Got there, parked relatively close to the place 8) went to get my bib number and race bag, left the bike and material in boxes and waited for the event to start.
When we got to Banyoles it was extremely cloudy and the sky treatened with rain. And it sure did rain... geez... what a storm... but about 20 minutes and it was gone and then the sky was clear, not sunny but clear and... perfect temperature for a competition :D
I am soooooooooooo happy! It was so great! I was in the first leg for swimming. I did the 400m in 11:41... very slow but done. First T was super long... 3:28. Bike ride was 11km and it took me 26:25... have never riden that fast... I'm so in awe! Second T was 2:28 and my 2.5km run was 16:17 which is an average of 6:30m/km which (although super slow) is the fastest I have run in over a year :o I am on cloud 9! Total time was 1:00:19... I estimated it'd take me an hour to finish so I'm very happy with it all!!!!
Wow... I DID IT! I am a triathlete!! Woohoo!!!!

Next Challenge...
I Triatló popular de Banyoles... yes... my second triathlon! To be held this coming Saturday, July 30th, at 3pm in Banyoles... so excited (and nervous and scared too) about it!
Went to Banyoles this am with Paula, to walk around the lake and saw everything ready for the event... I just can't wait!
It is a full triathlon weekend in Banyoles, as on Sunday the European Cup will be held... so it is nice to see everything getting ready for a huge even were us, populars, get to take part... it will be great. I just know it!
I now have to see how I take the bike to Banyoles. Need to go get a bike carrier. Will actually go now!
I have been biking and swimming a lot lately... did 40km on the bike last week, swam 2000m... so proud of myself. Even tried a couple of brick sessions to train T2 and worked out ok :D I finally went out for a "proper" run last night and felt ever sooooooooooooooo good! A lot faster than my runs lately too... odd, so I guess that either the break did me good or the biking and swimming have helped :D Run a little this am and the pace was good (for me) too, so all in all... very happy and excited.
Realized yesterday while running (was about time too) that I own my life and that whatever I do with it depends on me... it doesn't matter what I did or what hapenned in the past if I want to take control of my life, I can do it... noone else will!
Here's to the new me, no more excuses... woohoo!!!!

Challenges
Well... here I am again and I have to admit, I like challenges a bit too much :p
First off... last week I did pretty good with my training... Monday I went to Banyoles and twice around the lake. Tuesday I went swimming, Wednesday I went back to Banyoles, twice around the lake plus I swam 1000 meters, Thursday I went for an early morning 18km bike ride. I took Friday and Saturday off and did the Swimming Cross in Castellfollit yesterday. That called for 100m swimming + 600m running x 2. Surprisingly enough I came in 3rd out of 5, although the 5th dropped out. Paula came in 2nd in her age group, she did 25m swimming + 100m running x 2. It was a lovely morning with great people and a wonderful atmosphere! A complete week I'd say!
We loved it so much... and we found out about other little events, like the popular triathlon in Salitja on Aug. 14th, or the Aquathlon 500-5000-500... that's a toughie... in Caldes, and others about too! So, we'll be looking into it. Even one in September in Platja d'Aro! Have to look at the kiddie's races too for Paula as she so wants to do it again! What a champ she is!
So here we go... I am out of shape big time but ready to take on the challenges... my super sprint triatholon is only 19 days away... eek! Better get going!

Life is good
Well... howdy! It's been a looooooooooooooooong while... but I'm back and stronger than ever!
School's over, and so is my job :( but :D The kids, all 3, are doing Summer Camp while I'm decluttering the house and doing some training and trying to get some work towards the next school year. I have a few things in sight so we shall see :D
People make mistakes, we all do, but sometimes these mistakes are huge. Ok, I've said it... done!
Kids are doing well, we had our first swim of the season on Saturday at mom's. We had a BBQ and the kids got to swim before and after lunch... they were soooooooooo excited! Pol wasn't too sure about it at first but never wanted to get out in the end... he made huge progress in a day only! Jan was lovely... he had a ball... he loved it, he swam, he splashed, he jumped in right, left and sideways... it was amazing... such a happy little boy! Paula was the mermaid (and the only girl there too...)... her swimming has improved soooooooooooooo much... she did great! She dives in perfectly well now and couldn't have enough. She did get sunburnt on the face and a bit of a sunstroke but she's all ok now! It was lovely!
On Sunday, since Paula had a bit of a fever, we just played it cool and had a lazy day that felt awesome!
Since 10 days ago, I'm back working out and it's feeling awesome. Well, I hadn't run but I have been bike riding regularly. Sunday last week I rode 34kms!!! So after the bike, I started running again. I have come back and I'm slow, slower than ever but I'm back! :D The first day felt great, then one day I went at midday and it was awful... could hardly run, had to walk most of it... then I went back and it felt better... slow, very slow but better, so I'm slowly getting there! I went for a swim today... hadn't gone swimming since Sept. 12th on my tiny triathlon :o so it was about time. I did 850m in 30 minutes which was great as a start!
So, here's the scoop... my plans are as follow:
July 30th... popular triathlon in Banyoles... I might do it, I just might but need to train a lot, a L.O.T.... it's only 25 days away, eek!
August 7th, I might do a 10K in Malgrat
Sept. 4th, 2nd women's triathlon in Barcelona: signed up
Sept. 11th, national day race (12K)
Sept. 18th, cursa de la Mercè in BCN, 10k
Sept. 25th, Nike Run to the Beat Half Marathon in... LONDON!!!!!: registered and flights booked, woohoo!!!!!
Oct. 8-9: WWFoR: half marathon
Oct. 23rd: Half Marathon of the Mediterranean
Nov. 20th: Jean Bouin, 10K
Dec. 4th: Half Marathon of Mataró (we shall see)
Dec. 11th: La Sansi de Lloret (5K9)
Dec. 26th: Sant Silvestre Riudellotenca (7K9
Feb. 5th (I think): Half Marathon of Granollers (I did my first half there last year :D)
Feb. 26th: Half Marathon of Barcelona
March 25th: MARATÓ DE BARCELONA (that's my dream... hopefully I can do it!)
May 18th: Xtrem Running Costa Brava. Selva Marítima, 25km
April 9th: Cursa de Fons de Canovelles, 15km
End of March/beginning of April if not doing Barcelona: Half Marathon of Montornès. I hear it's great and would love to check it out :p
And the huge, huge, huge goal... don't know if doable but I'll try... a Half Ironman at the end of May. I know it sounds big but now that I don't have a job and will have time to train I think it's the moment, the time... I'll never have it as good. I'll try. If it can be, it can be, if not... life goes on :D
Ok, so these are the races I'd like to do. I'll most likely won't be able to do them all but I'll try to fit in as many as I can. Need to fit in St. Antoni sometime in January, Bombers in April, most likely, my city's race or half in early May... we'll see... will depend on many things but I'd really like to fit those in. Baby steps, no hurry... it's a lot of races and only 1 Jacky so, little by little ;)
Loving this "me" time, the opportunity that I've been given... when a window closes, a balcony opens... life is good!!!!

The sun always shines
Yes... there's always a light at the end of the tunnel, always. I try to be a positive person. I might brag at times and complain but I always look at the bright side of things, cause there's always a bright side :D
I went for a short sweet run last Thursday... it felt perfect! I did a total of 7kms... not a lot but more than none ;) I didn't manage to do the night run at Germans Sàbat or the Cursa a l'Alba in Salt but I did got for an almost 19km bike ride yesterday afternoon. I thought about taking a nap as I was exhausted but chose to go bike riding... smart move on my side, if I may say so! It took me just a tad over an hour... it felt good!
But the weekend has 2 days and on Saturday we went to Vic (we did lots other things but this one too!) as Paula was competing in the final (Inigym 2). We dropped Pol off in Bordils with Laura, Litus, Jordi and Sergi, and Jan off at his grandparents and off we went. As we were getting there, the sky was darker and darker. We had a huge thunder storm! Anyway... down to the point. Paula competed and did a wonderful competition. She did great and she was very pleased with hersef, which, in itself, is a huge victory :D Then the results were announced and... she won the competition... amazing but true... all those training hours and the passion she's put in it have paid off... individual gold, team silver and 3 medals on apparatus: bronze on the vault, gold on the balance beam and gold on the floor... we're sooooo proud of her :D So there you go... the sun shining through the storm :D
Pol's not well today and I think I'm coming down with something myself... oh well... time will tell!
Carpe Díem!!!!

Deca Bike and more
Ok, so here I am again!
Today was the first edition of the Deca Bike, a popular bike ride (non competitive) around the city, organized by a sport store called Decathlon. It was nice. Lots of people and a bit hectic but Paula had a great time which is what counts. The thing itself was great but we had to stop a lot because of police not stopping the traffic, then really narrow streets, water given at a very very very narrow spot but all in all a nice experience. So nice to have the streets of the city closed just for us :D We did a total of 14.620m which is not bad at all!
This past week had been tough. Bad news came my way on Wednesday. No more job for me... eek! 3 kids and a mortgage require a job you know... anyway, I just know things will work out great and something will come along, I just know it!
On Friday I went to the presentation of the book "The smile of Endurance" by Alexandra Panayotou and it was great... such a breath of fresh air, plus I got to see 2 good friends there and talk to Alex herself which was such a gift!
I went to work yesterday afternoon. It was the school's end of year show. It really went well!
And then last night was the final of the Champion's League Barça against Manchester United and... Barça won! Barça is the CHAMPION! It was great... awesome goals and a great match. We got the kids out of bed (they weren't asleep yet) and we celebrated for like 3 minutes... it was really nice :D
Kids are off to camp (Paula and Jan) on Wednesday. Their sleeping bags are clean and folded, ready for departure :D They can't wait, they're sooooo looking forward to it, yay!
And as new news... 70.3 is on my mind... yes... so since I might be having lots of time, I might do my first next spring, woohoo! How cool is that?
Nothing else for now. More to come as I resume my exercising which I miss very much. Doing some studying for my exams. I will pass them all!!!!

Lots going on
Well... it's been over 2 weeks... and lots have happened.
My grandma, in the first place, suffered a heart attack after we visited. She was in hospital for a week, she had a valve put in to widen her aorta and is doing great. She's such a strong woman. I'm so proud of her!
My exams. I passed 2 out of the 3, not bad considering the situation. More to come, 3 on June 17th and 1 on the 18th. That should get me through my 1st year and onto the 2nd one... wow... that was fast!
My friend Ana, after a long 5 year adoption wait, has finally been assigned a little 7 month old Chinese boy. She's traveling to China with her husband and daughter on June 17th and will be meeting Alex on the 20th. So happy for them! My cousin Sandra should be traveling to Russia soon too to bring little Sophia back :D
As for me... a 2 week break (on purpose) off running to see if my feet would heal but they're more or less the same. No pain, the blisters are dry, so I think it's time to get back at it. I have gone on 2 bike rides with Paula and they've been great. We did 12.5kms a week ago and 15 last Sunday... she does great and it was a blast! We've signed up for a "bikathon" next Sunday, it should be lots and lots of fun!
Paula's final will be held in Vic on June 4th. Slowly buy surely we're getting our schedule settled... nothing in months and all of the sudden lots on the calendar. I think I need holidays, LOL!
Kids are doing great. So proud of them all. They've all 3 had their hair cut and look cuter than ever!
Been somewhat demotivated (huh... what's new???) but think I'm finding my way again :D I can do it... I just have to go ahead and do it ;)

Races and places
It's been a while... again... ugh!
Well... I run my 9 miler on Monday, April 25th and it was an amazing experience, first running through the city and then in the woods, really nice. I finished in 1:51, really happy about it! Plus I met this guy who's had a tough life and we talked a lot... it was great!
I then went for runs on May 4th, 9kms, May 6th, 6kms and May 8th, 10km! Yes, that's today! I did a race right around the corner from home. It was a 9k but managed 10 due to having to speed to get there. I was 5 minutes slower than last year :( still, got it done and feel great about it! The blisters on my feet don't feel that good though...
We went to England and we didn't get to run :( Grandma looked well, we went out for lunch and shopping, it was great, but then, on Wednesday, she had a heart attack and is now in hospital. Has to have a valve put in. Mom flew over today and she said she was unlucky enough to fall in the shower this am and hurt her foot and bump her nose... oh my...
I did my exams on Friday and they were ok for not having done much. Went again yesterday and was caught up in traffic so I missed the first one, argh! Caught up with my SIL and went to the Nike Store to get my diploma and DVD from the Bombers Race and went back to the exam site. Did my exam. It was ok, we'll see.
I am extremely tired and it's getting hot here... my feet are killing me due to my blisters... I really need someone to cure it for me... it is painful but oh well, guess it could be worse!
My brother and I, AKA the Forrest Team will be traveling to London, England in September to run the run to the beat half marathon on September 25th, woohoo!!!!

Cursa de Fons de Canovelles
Yes! I did it! I run the Cursa de Fons de Canovelles, a 15K. Had second thoughts about it this am upon having to get out of bed, but so glad. I went. Lovely people, good organitzation, beautiful route... too bad they run out of coke/water at the end. Only beer available... NO WAY!
So, left the house late, about 20 minutes later than I wished, got there, got lost, then couldn't park. In the end I made it at 9:40. Race was starting at 10. Got my bib, went to the toilet, left my bad and off I went. No time for warmup :o The race starts... uphill for about 1/3 of a mile, really steep but hey, it's the beginning and I'm fresh ;) BTW, no breakfast for me... only a coffee... couldn't get anything down. Make it to K5 great and then, turn into the woods. Steep hill that I walk. At the top I see some runners and I get to pass them, yay! I keep running until K8.5 approximately when there's another hill, not as steep but very long, so I decide to walk it. An older man who passed me at the beginning and then I passed again, catches up with me and we've gone together til the end. He really made it easier. Having someone to run with and talk to was great! We even sprinted to cross the finish line ;)
In the end 1:51:03. Very happy for having finished and seeing I'm not scared of the distance. Loved it! Beautiful sorroundings. I'd really like to do it again next year or whenever!

England, here I come!
Hi!
So yes... I am going to England to see my Oma next Friday! Back on Sunday, short and sweet but will be great to break away and spend some time with my brother and grandma!
Will take my running shoes and my Garmin, hoping to fit a little run over there :p
More on the "adventure" as it approaches ;)

Yay!
Yay for lots of things! On the one hand I'm on Easter Break, yay! On the other hand, Paula competed last Sunday in Salt (in her very own gym) and won again and her team placed second.... yay! I went for a run on Monday evening, 8kms total, yay! Jan turned 6 on Tuesday, yay, yay, yay! I went for a run, 7kms on Weds evening, yay! And... I went on a 14.150km run yesterday (Thursday), a big YAY for me!!!!!! I went in the am after dropping the kids of at camp. Paula and Jan have gone Mon-Thurs and loved it, so I went running on Monday and Thursday after dropping them off... priceless being able to run in the am when I can see exactly where I am going, LOL!
On Wednesday I went out in the evening for a short sweet run just to keep things going. The plan calls for a short easy run tomorrow Saturday and then my 15K on Monday. 1:45 is the time frame the organitzation gives to finish. I'll try my best :D
So, all in all a great week, almost 30km so far. Amazing all that can be done when one's got time for it :p
Oma sent Jan a parcel and it got here right on his brithday. He was soooooooo happy! We called her and she's been poorly. Might go over next weekend to see her. Need to get organized and see if it's doable.
Attached a photo of the bike path where I run... pure nature right next to the city :D Also attached a photo of Paula (both taken with my mobile phone) after the competition while helping put things away.

Wednesday
Hi! It's Wednesday already... 2 more sleeps and... Easter Holidays... yippee!!!!!
Went out for a short run today... almost didn't go because I was soooooooo tired. But so glad I did, it was short but sweet and great... I loved it, felt good and was "faster" than usual, LOL! Still beautiful although the temps have dropped a bit which is nice too!
So 7 more kms under my belt, next kms will be on Friday I guess!
I have posted these pics from the race on Sunday. It was BIG!

We Run Barcelona!
Hi! Another edition of the Cursa dels Bombers in Barcelona, was held today... 20,000 runners in bright yellow t-shirts invaded the streets... it was amazing!
I did a short training run on Thursday, 4Ks, just a little something. This am, the alarm clock went off at 6:30, got up, fed Pol, showered, got dressed and headed to Barcelona. Met my brother and headed to the race site.
Seeing lots of bright yellow t-shirts was very encouraging. Got there... thousands of people... 17706 finishers... wow! It was very very hot already before 9am and when the race started at 10 we were all sweating and I had already poured a bottle of water over my head :o
I suffered and I enjoyed the race today. I was tired... I've not been sleeping properly and I could tell, still I went ahead, moved by the cheering crowd... it is wonderful how they put animation all over the city: music, drums, bangers... breathtaking really! K2-3 there were volunteers clapping and cheering along with trumpets and whistles, K5-6 drums and more drums... K9 more and more drums... upbeating!
The other side, which was scary to me was seeing lots and lots of people get dizzy, pass out, throw up... I have seen people faint or get dizzy before but not what I saw today... 30 at least... impressive to say the least... guess it was the heat, we're having a sort of a heat wave, temps have climbed a lot over the last days reaching well over 30ºC. I don't think our bodies have had the time to get used to that. I just hope that everyone is safe and sound now.
Disappointed a bit with the result, then again, another 10K under my belt done in 1:10:10, 34:30-35:30, looking at it that way, it even is cute ;)
Organization was perfect, just like last year, volunteers amazing, animation awesome... definitely going back next year :D

And 10 more...
Hi! Wednesday and 10 more ks done today in my training run-walk. I run 7.600 and walked the rest up to 10.300. Felt great. Was able to leave at dusk so it was really really nice! People around... didn't feel as lonely although I must admit I like being on my own :p
Race on Sunday... can't wait... loved that my run today got faster, ks 5, 6 and 7 were each a bit faster than the previous... how cool is that? I'm adding hills to my training runs and I think they're doing the trick!
If I could only control my eating, everything would be almost perfect ;)

Sleep deprived week
It's been a week since my last post...oops... I've been very very busy but I've been good. I did 2 training runs this week, a 10k total on Thursday and a 7.3K on Friday. Both great and progressive, amazingly enough. I added loops and hill on Thursday and it went really well. I haven't gone to bed before 1 any day this week, ugh... I am very very tired... I went out for both my runs at 10pm...
I had a 10K today here in Girona... I had a dinner last night and a birthday party in the afternoon... a bit hectic... left the restaurant at 2am... got home, went to bed and Pol woke up twice before 3... ugh... he slept through after that. My neighbours woke me up before 7, how nice... NOT! I got up at 8, fed Pol and put him back in bed. My left knee hurt and my right ankle was funny... the thought of not going crossed my mind but I decided to give it a try... as I walked over to the race site I started feeling better. I did the warmup and all was good, so I gave it a try... and boy oh boy, am I happy I did!!!!!! It was a lovely warm sunny morning and I started slow but feeling good. Trying to keep up with the people around me. I only walked about 20 seconds when I got my bottle of water. I somehow managed to do the last 2 k really faster than any of the ks in the race :p I finished in 1:07:16... a full 4 minutes faster than my 10K last week!!!!! Feeling good and wanting more! Splits were: 6:24, 6:29, 6:37, 6:35, 6:42, 7:03, 7:07, 7:03, 6:44 and 6:32, so the 2 last ones were NOT the fastest but lot faster than the previous... what a wonderful feeling!
Next Sunday, 20,000 runners will take Barcelona... woohoo!

And... another 10K done!
It is Sunday and the hour/time was moved forward last night, so we got one hour less sleep... I really don't get why we have to do this... the total savings per home, not per person is of 19€ a year... come on... all this hussle for 19 euros? I really struggle with time changes, both in the fall and now... anyway...
Went to Figueres this am to run the 2ª Cursa Urbana de Figueres, a 10K with 6 steep and loooooooooooong hills. It was raining at the start and did so for over 25 minutes but it didn't bother much at all ;) Out of the 6 hills I "only" walked 1, so I'm quite happy about that. I was slow, as usual but I felt good. I finished in 1:11:44 and in place 333 out of 378, not bad. I had bib #1, what an honor and what a responsibility! It was nice, well organized, great atmosphere, lovely place... all was good. At the end, hot (and thick) chocolate and cake, a sandwich, an apple, water and a t-shirt, lovely and with reflectors, by the way!
And well... I've done lots of thinking. Not that I haven't done so before but lots more. It is a fact that the "backpack" (my over-weigh) I carry, makes me drag along in many ways. I think it's time to slowly but surely get rid of it. Obviously, just by losing weight I'd go faster. If we add the training, I'll get faster for sure! I need to do it, I want to do it, I have to do it, I (guess) can do it. I'll just try to cut on sweet stuff and keep exercising and take it a day at a time, set little goals and see what happens. I think I can, no wait, I know I can!!
Another 10k (this one here at home) next Sunday, April 3rd and another one in Barcelona the other Sunday, April 10th. I've also signed up for a 15K on April 25th (Easter Monday) and would like to run the half in my city on May 8th. If I want to do that, I obviously need to up my mileage (I think it's been 33km for me this week, yay!) and make "sure" I can finish within the established time by the organization. We'll see!
Went for a jog/walk with Paula yesterday and it was great! We saw lots of tadpoles at the end and we went today to get some to take to school to observe how they transform! Awesome!

Progressive again :p
I went running again on Wednesday. I had spent all day on a day trip with the 5's. We went to the Cinema Museum in Girona and then to have lunch at the park in Fornells. It was a great, lovely day. The trip went really well, the kids were mostly good and it was interesting and fun! I got home and I was just plain exhausted. The previous night had been a nightmare. Pol couldn't breathe and kept waking up poor thing. He spent over 3 hours at the ER in the morning with Toni. His oxygen saturation was 95% when he got there. They gave him cortisone and "underwent" 3 inhaler masks until he reached 97% and was allowed to go back home. Back to the ped this am and lots of "whistles" can still be heard in his chest but he's better. He's a champ!
So, back to Weds. I was exhausted, falling asleep while standing. Yet I decided to go out. I could tell my warmup walk was slow, I was literally falling asleep, but kept going. Made it to the start point and started. After about 5 minutes I thought it'd be a terrible training run but I kept going... well... it turned out to be a great run. Slowish but great and... to my surprise, progressive! I added a hill there too! I got home and I was wide awake, LOL, feeling great! It was nice!
Today... I wanted to go out. Toni went to pick Paula up, I put Pol in bed and wanted to get changed. Jan wanted mommy so I stayed with him. When Toni got home and I got dinners fixed, I couldn't find my running gear... it was 9:21pm already and I decided to call it a day... by the time I'd get changed and going it'd be really late and I didn't feel like coming back home at 11:30pm and still having to have dinner, so it'll have to be another day... I don't tink tomorrow is a good day as I have the race on Sunday but... you never know!
Meeting my bestest friend Hyland for breakfast tomorrow... I just can't wait. She's such a blessing. I love her to bits! Might go for a walk/run on the bike path with Paula after lunch :D

Minus 3
That's the number of toenails that I am missing right now... my goodness... they became weird after my first half on Feb. 6th and 2 fell off today, the other one did a few days ago... my feet look gross... not that I have nice feet at all but without toenails they're even worse, LOL! But I take it as a trophy, kind of ;)
I went out for a run today... I was exhausted after going on a daytrip with the 3 year olds, all day, with 75 kids... guess no more needs to be said... but I put little Pol in bed and headed out... OMG... what a GREAT run... I loved it. Temp was perfect and somehow I managed to run every km a bit faster than the previous one, finishing my last km in 6:32 which is just amazing... I am sooooooooooo happy... I did pay attention to my running, trying to pick up my feet and move them forward, lengthening my stride but wow... I never thought it'd get so "good" (for me!). I loved it and it's given me confidence... can't wait for my next run which should happen on Weds.
Kids are good. Went back to the beach on Sunday afternoon and they had a whale of a time. Will have to post some pics as there are really good ones! Pol's full of a cold, hoping and wishing it doesn't go down to his chest. Paula and Jan are doing good so far!

The race that won't be :(
All my fault, just my fault... I haven't trained... I can't go to a half just like that. Anyway... I did go pick my bib and runner's bag and took the kids to the beach to run and play... they loved it! It was so exciting seeing all the race atmosphere, all the athletes, the banners, the signals... hope that makes me think and I get going!
Paula and Jan slept at school last night. They celebrated what they call spring night when kids sleep at school to welcome spring. They had a whale of a time! I picked them up today at 9 am and then went to see a couple of Paula's friends on a gymnastics exhibition.
After Pol's nap, we went to Calella to pick the race package and since we couldn't find a park for the kids to play in, we just went to the beach. Today is the day when the moon's closest to the earth in 2 decades... well.. got to the beach, and the moon was just at the horizon, all red and lovely and it started going up, up, up... it was lovely! The kids chased the waves... it was fun!
I have my bib number: 819, the t-shirt and a towel plus a bag... at least I've go that !!
A lovely afternoon. Great weather expected again tomorrow so I might take them to the beach again when it's NOT dark and then park. They love being outdoors and it's great for them too!
Pics are from the kids at the beack. Aren't they cute?

Feeling alive!
Yes... I did it... I went out today... it was 10pm already and it had been pouring it down with rain all day (yesterday too!) but... it stopped just as I got out there (not that the rain would have stopped me!). And yes... it was great! Awesome! Amazing! Super! I loved it! Finally... I did it... I took that first step... I was slow, yes, but I did it and the enormous sense of accomplishment upon doing it, is priceless... wow... I feel alive!
I saw a motivation video for triathletes on FB and loved it and I needed a little push... total workout time was 51 minutes I think... I can surely fit an hour every day, can't I? And seeing what's happened in Japan makes me think how lucky I am and how we complain about things when we really shouldn't... I hope I keep it going.
Races coming up: March 27th Figueres, April 3rd, Girona and April 10th, Barcelona... Bombers... the best race I've been to so far! I had a half this weekend but I ain't ready... might go for a few kms, we'll see.. I'll pick up my bib and runner's bag on Saturday but won't run it. I am not ready and I don't want to injure myself!
So... back at it and for good I hope!

I Cursa de la Dona de Girona
Today, a first edition of a race was held in Girona. It was a 5K and I went with Paula. It was my first run in a month :o IT WAS GREAT! I set off slow, as usual even more so after not having run for a month and Paula started getting ahead... I was a little worried to not see her/have her with me but she was going with the flow. At K 2.5 I caught up with her. She had a side stitch, my poor little thing. So we walked some and run some. We finished in 36:10 which I consider and excellent time! I'm so proud of Paula (she is too!) and of myself too. After it rained ALL day nonstop yesterday, the sun was shining today and the temperature was lovely! The race was tiny but extremely well organized and with a lovely course. I really enjoyed it!
After the race we headed to Barcelona for lunch with my brother and his kids. The kids had a great time. After lunch at a restaurant we went to a park to play for a while. It was only a tiny one but they loved it!
We headed back and dinner will follow shortly and early bedtime... they should be exhausted!
A lovely day with gorgeous weather and a lovely run... can't ask for much more!

Time to get serious
So, another week's gone by... I'm getting old :p
It's raining. Has been all day. It's 6:31pm and it keeps raining... oh well... Toni and Paula went shopping in the am. The boys and I stayed in. We figure that all "covered" places, such as the mall or kiddie's places will be packed, so we're staying in! The boys don't seem bothered about it :p
Pol slept until 10:30 am :o and he took an over 2 hour nap :o I woke him up... this kid's only sleeping, LOL! No wonder he's got so much energy with such nice rests, LOL!
Dad was in hospital from Tuesday March 1st until last Wednesday and then into a hospital-home and it seems like he's going back to hospital on Monday. We had to go celebrate my sister's birthday tomorrow (she's 43 on Monday) but it's been cancelled as dad's so bad. So we'll see what happens... he had a huge stroke almost 2 years ago and since then it's one thing after the other...
So, maybe it's been an eye-opener, or maybe what I needed... I don't know... then I saw Deloris posting on DM and how well she's doing. Lots of inspiration on DM, and lots from Deloris, she's progressed so much... she's amazing!
So I will run that 5K in Girona tomorrow, bringing Paula along and will take it from there. My half on Sunday next week is totally out of the question as I haven't run in a month but there'll be more races to come. If I could keep training 3 days a week plus a weekend day I think I'll be back on track. It's all a matter of organization. My goal? The Barcelona marathon in 2012, held March 20th... a year to go. Guess I can do it, we'll see, if not, NY 2013 for sure!!! Lots to do before that though :p
It's about time I took care of myself and loved myself, I've got enough reasons to do it!
I saw a dietitian on Tuesday and really liked him... he's going to teach me how to do things properly which is good... unlike other diets, he's teaching me how to eat so I can eat a bit of everything and even go to a wedding if needed and eat as much as I want :D Maybe things are starting to look up!
On Thursday, Paula's coach told me how good she was at the competition and even how the main coach was amazed with her floor routine :D :D :D (it's grand, coming from her!!!) and how she works hard to achieve things... when something doesn't work out she'll try and try and try and try and keep trying until she gets it, instead of getting a kind of blockage (what happens to me, LOL)... it was nice to hear... also she said she's very secure and a gymnast you can count on and that she's to be in the podium in every competition as she's got what it takes to be there... yes... I'm drooling all over, LOL!
