Perfect weather for running

Went out for a short easy run. Plan called for 30 easy minutes and that's what I did. Loved every minute of it. Feeling good now. Ready for a shower too! Did over 2.5k of warmup and cooldown and run 4.2k... not bad. It was "only" 13ÂșC out there, but it was just perfect with a short sleeve and a windbreaker!

My dyshidrosis is bad and my foot's really bothering me but I ain't stopping unless extremely necessary. Running keeps me sane! Seing the doc on Thursday. Hopefully she's got some answers for me!

Cursa de la Dona de Barcelona (Run for the Cure)

So, after having gone for a run on Weds and Fri after such a long time, I decided to back out on the 10K I had for today and signed up for the Run for the Cure in Barcelona, a 5K wich was doable, compared to the 10K.

I have to say, I finally was able to use my new toy, my Garmin 305 on Friday and that I loved it! Still figuring out how it works but I love it!

So, got up at 7:30 am, got dressed and headed for Barcelona. Picked up a coffee and a sandwich on the way. Got to Barcelona and then I couldn't find any parking -help- I finally found where to park (paying) and headed to the race grounds. Picked up my timing chip, went porta-potty and headed for the start (there was time for nothing else :P not even warm up...). Crossed the start line 9 minutes after the gun had gone. Lots of walkers, let's not forget this is more a party than anything else. I wasn't able to run for the first 500m because of the amount of ladies out there, 10,300 total today, woohoo! Also, I was zig-zagging all the time (all the 5k's) passing walkers and others so it wasn't easy! Running up the Ramblas in Barcelona was great... all the tourists were watching in awe, LOL! A beautiful and perfect morning. Wish I had someone to run with, meaning I had known someone there. Still it was great. Spoke to lots of women and had a great time!

Finish time for me was 34:13, a PB for me. I was going at 6:20/km for a while and at the end at 5:50, OMG! Fastest was 4:28 which is amazing but avg pace was 6:57 wich is ok with me. Loved the run, would have gone more but it'll have to wait! I've just come back, gotta take it slowly! Sunday next week... Cros de Sants, a 10K... I'm going no matter what! And my brother will be there too!

So... hoping to report more runs! I had pus on my foot last night. It was terribly painful but I'm sorry... I ain't stopping again, can't afford it!

Medium term goal: half marathon (signed up for Feb. 6th and looking at the Feb. 13th one which is nice and flat, might not be able to do Feb. 6th as Paula might be competing that day...)

Long term goal: marathon. I am looking into Barcelona 2012 held the firs Sunday of March. Time will tell!

Yes! I went for a run! Woohoo!

So, I did! I finally managed to get out there and boy did it feel good!!! I loved every minute of it although I can sort of tell I'll be sore tomorrow but, who cares?

Headed out at around 8:20pm, walked to starting point as usual and then started. Did my usual route and did about the same time... not bad for not having run for a month and a day and having put weight on. Guess the amount of rest on the body had something to do with it too!

Feeling happy, free and alive. Hope I can keep going now!

Had a 10K on Sunday but decided I won't be ready and have changed it for a 5K Race for the Cure in Barcelona. I'll be in a race and it will be doable!

I did notice a new "batch" of blisters "sprouting" on the same foot, further down and smaller but still there, itchy like crazy. So far it's all under control and hope it stays that way!

So, I'm back at it... my Garmin had no battery, I did not find my other GPS and my MP3 run out of battery (although it was almost at the end of the run). Still, I went out... nothing could stop me!

Trying to take control

Ok, so after a very busy week with meetings and lots to do I want to try yet once again to control my life, basically, control my eating.

My foot's better. Not 100% but definitely better. I am hoping to start doing something on Saturday (have a dinner tomorrow night and can't fit it in). I have signed up for a hal on Feb. 6th. Don't know if I'll be able to do it since Paula might be competing the same day at the same time, but there are lots more going on around those days. I still hope I can do it, we'll have to wait to see when her competition is. Wouldn't miss it for the world :D

So, the plan is (and I hope I can sort of stick to it) to start running again and controling my food intake to gradually lose weight and feel better. Will need as much help as I can get, after all I do have an eating disorder... won't be easy but it's worth the try, that half's waiting for me!

Can I do it? Yes I can!

Paula's training

Open doors at Paula's gym this past week. We went to see her and took photos one day. Here are a few!

Loved it. Had so much fun watching her and the other groups!

Today

So, this is my foot today. It seemed better all week but on Friday it was bad again. Woke up at 4:30 am and couldn't sleep anymore. It was soooooo painful. I couldn't believe it! By Friday evening I didn't even know how to place my leg. It really hurt. But then being at home and not doing much, having my foot uncovered seems to have done the trick... it was bad last night again but today I'm ok so far. Haven't been out the house at all and I guess you can really tell! Let's hope it's the end of it. The process seems to have ended as there are no more blisters (that I can see at least) coming out. So let's hope it's over and I can be back up and running soon!

Other than that things are good. Open doors at Paula's gym this week. We went to see her training. She's improved a lot and she so wants to get better and better! Jan started sports and loved it and Pol's fully adapted at school and loves seing me around and waving bye-bye and blowing me kisses... he's a sweetheart! I'm so blessed! That's them 3 in the bath just an hour ago!

So things are good so far, and hopefully my foot is on the mend!

Update

So, went to the docs on Friday. She said it wasn't "mature" so it couldn't be removed -bummer- but the nurse made a "hole" with a needle and put some antibiotic right on the spot and taped it up. I wasn't allowed to remove it until Sunday. I did and the lump was magically gone! Not the blisters that keep "sprouting" but at least there's no pain. But to add up... I had a stomach bug Friday afternoon and Saturday, no fun at all and feeling like I had been runover by a truck or something big. My tummy was better on Sunday but... I pulled my back... yes... things never come alone I guess... so by the evening, my head was forward, just like and egyptian and I could NOT put it back in place... it was sooooooooooooo painful. Took pain killers and anti-imflamatories (sp?), had hubby massage the area with some sport's cream and went to bed. Woke up a bit better but not 100%. My tummy's feeling funny again (doc said it could be due to the new anitiotic... thing is I still have 4 more days to take it -sigh). So, foot feels better but is very blistery (check photo), tummy's funny, back's about 75%. Think it can't get worse??? Just wait! Hubby calls me in the am after dropping kids off at school saying he's bumped into a car and his car is crashed, OMG... 15 days without a car... geez... I said it's just a matter of getting really well organized and living with just one car but he's so "square", likes everything always the same way that it'll take a few days to get used to the idea. And if that wasn't enough (well, this one isn't that bad, well, it is for my peace of mind) I checked Paula's competition schedule and guess when she's first competing??? Come on, guess, guess... exactly! The day I am supposed to be debuting in half marathon -sigh, sigh, sigh- We still don't know where the competition will be held (had to travel over an hour each time last year to get to competition grounds) and at what time. I'm keeping fingers crossed I'll be able to do it all! She's competing Feb. 6th, March 6th, April 10th and if she gets in the final (let me doubt it but impossible is nothing) May 22nd... at least I know when NOT to sign up for another race! :P

So, that's about it... photo of my lovely foot (NOT!), hopefully a "normal" one to come soon!!!!!

Minor surgery - sigh -

So, it seems to be... going to the doc's at 4. Went to the ER again last night as it was so so so so painful. I had been on antibiotic since Monday and it was going worse and worse and just didn't find it normal. So I went. Had to wait for an hour. Went in the (handsome :p) doctor looked at it and said the antibiotic wasn't working as if my body was "resisting" it and said it wasn't quite mature to take out. He changed the anitbiotic and anti-imflamatory and told me to go to my doc's today to have it taken out... yikes... a few stitches will be needed but hey... as long as someone takes the pain away, I'm happy!!! He said, had it been mature, he would have done it there and then... too bad it wasn't. Hopefully it is now so that I can get it over and done with and move on... I have lots to do like training for a half in Feb!!!
